There are new angels in town! Get ready for an action-packed adventure because Netflix's Warrior Nun looks to take viewers on a wild ride. The fantasy drama premieres next month and you'll want to tune in to the series that sees powerful characters get caught between good and evil.

The recently posted trailer introduces the audience to lead character Ava (played by Alba Baptista), a young woman who wakes up in a morgue with unexplainable superpowers.

"My whole life, I've dreamt about being dead," Ava's voiceover begins. "I leave my body and I see myself from above. A normal girl, until I wake up and realize that I'm still the freak I've been my whole life. One thing I've learned since then: life has a really f***ed up way of making your dreams come true."

In an attempt to search out answers behind her newfound powers, Ava discovers The Order of the Cruciform Sword, "a secret society of warrior nuns sworn to protect the world from evil," per Netflix.

From there, she's introduced to more members in her Charlie's Angels like tribe: Beatrice, Shotgun Mary, Lilith, and Camila.

Netflix writes that Ava must juggle "her responsibilities as the chosen one with the normal obstacles of a teenage girl," while also fighting "in the name of good, but she’s no angel."

IMDb claims that the female-led cast includes Toya Turner, Lorena Andrea, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Thekla Reuten, Joaquim de Almeida, and Sylvia De Fanti.

According to What's On Netflix, this show is based on a comic book series from 1994 titled Warrior Nun Areala.

Each of the 10 episodes is named after a bible verse due to the show's religious background.

Episode titles include 2 Corinthians 10:4, Isaiah 30:20-21, and Matthew 7:13.

This Netflix Original series is headed by Canadian screenwriter, Simon Barry. He has worked on other projects including Ghost Wars, Van Hesling, Continuum, and Bad Blood, per IMDb.
